Short CV:  

Elena Konstantinidou is an Architect and Engineer (National Technical University of Athens, 1992) with a postgraduate diploma in Architecture, in the direction of "Design-Space-Culture" (NTUA, 2004). She also attended a series of postgraduate seminars on the following topics: "New uses in old buildings" (1992, NTUA, SADAS), "Urban regeneration - local development - participatory planning" (1994, NTUA, European Community Fund), "Typology and Urban Space" (1994, NTUA Continuing Education Center).
From 2000 to the present, she has been working in the Department I of Architectural Design of the School of Architecture and Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens, in the Laboratory of Architectural Morphology and Rhythmology, initially as a Lecturer, while since 2012 she was elected to the rank of Assistant Professor, with the subject of "Architectural Composition and Architectural Heritage". She teaches courses in Architectural Compositions, Architectural Heritage and Modern Interventions in Historical Environments, as well as courses in Analysis of Traditional Buildings and Ensembles as well as Contemporary Architectural Projects. She also participates in courses of the NTUA's interdepartmental postgraduate program "Monument Protection - Conservation and Restoration of Historical Buildings and Ensembles" and has served as a visiting professor at universities abroad (IUAV, University of Cyprus, UNIC, etc.). Her 25 years of professional experience focuses on architectural design at both the design and construction levels, in collaboration with design offices and as an individual architectural activity. Her projects include private and public buildings, residential buildings and residential complexes in urban environments and traditional settlements, studies of the regeneration of historical buildings, tourist facilities, hotels, guesthouses, office buildings, sports facilities, outdoor space configurations, space rearrangements and furniture design. From 2011-2013 she participated in the preparation of a Regulatory Plan (action plan) for the Polemi community, in Cyprus, on behalf of the Department of Urban Planning and Housing of the Republic of Cyprus.

She also has published architectural work, participation in exhibitions as well as participation and distinctions in National and International architectural competitions (12 participations, 4 awards).
Her research experience includes participation in a series of NTUA programs and projects related to issues of: Identification - conservation and utilization of Industrial Heritage, Integrated Protection of historic cities, Protection and promotion of Archaeological sites, Structural Investigation - Rescue and utilization of settlements, Restoration - Upgrading and Integration of new Uses in historic buildings, Structural analysis and valuation of buildings, Reconstruction of Fire-stricken areas, etc. Her publications include articles in books, scientific journals, conference proceedings and the local press and focus on issues of: Methodology for teaching Architectural Composition, Architectural Design in a historic environment, Methodology for recognizing the cultural identity of traditional settlements, etc. She has also participated, as speaker, in many seminars, conferences, workshops, symposia, scientific meetings, etc., in Greece and abroad.
Since her graduation from the School of Architecture of the National University of Athens (1992), she has actively participated in scientific - professional associations and organizations such as: ICOMOS (International Council of Monuments and Sites), Hellenic Society of Aesthetics (Micheli Foundation), Hellenic Institute of Architecture (EIA), Hellenic Society of University Women (HELEGYP), Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE), Association of Architects of Graduate Schools - Panhellenic Union of Architects (SADASP-PEA), Scientific Technical Chamber of Cyprus (ETEK), Association of Architects of Cyprus.
