One Day Tour

Participation is optional and the cost per person is not included in the conference fees.

ONE DAY CRUISE TO SYMI ISLAND

On Wednesday 26th June 2024, the Organising Committee will offer to conference participants and accompanying persons a one-day cruise to Symi Island.

We have booked 130 seats.

Tickets will be available from the Registration Desk of the conference during Monday the 24th and Tuesday the 25th of June.

The cost is 35 euros/per person. We will keep strict priority since seats are limited.

 

Detailed time schedule of the one-day cruise:
- 9.00 pm, Departure from Rhodes Harbour
- 10.20' pm, Arrival at Symi Harbour
   Plenty of time for:
   (a) walking in the amphithetrical streets and landscape of the traditional small town,
   (b) Drinking coffee on the waterfront (Yalos),
   (c) Swimming in the clear waters of the nearby beach (called "Paradeisos Beach" - Heaven beach).
   (d) Having lunch on one of the tavernas on the waterfront (Yalos). The most famous plate is "Symiako Garidaki" - i.e., Symian shrimps. Don't miss it.
- 15.45' am, Departure from Symi Harbour 
- 17.05' am, Arrival at Rhodes Harbour

 

Symi Island

Symi island is an idyllic paradise, situated near the island of Rhodes which makes it an ideal destination for a boat trip from Rhodes. The town of Symi is famous for its picturesque harbor and colorful neoclassical mansions, making it one of the most breathtakingly beautiful places in Greece.

Panormitis Monastery
The Monastery of the Archangel Michael Panormitis is a popular tourist destination on the island of Symi, Greece. The monastery is located on the southern coast of the island, and is dedicated to the Archangel Michael, who is considered the protector of the island. It is also a pilgrimage site for the orthodox Christians, many people visit the monastery every year to pay their respects and light a candle to the Saint. The monastery is said to have healing powers, and many people come to the monastery to pray for healing or to give thanks for healings they have received.

Saint George Beach
Saint George beach, or “Agios Georgios”, is located south on the island of Symi. It is a popular destination for tourists due to its crystal clear waters and beautiful scenery. The beach is a mix of pebbles and sand. It is surrounded by rocky cliffs. The water is turquoise and crystal clear, making it perfect for a boat trip with a swimming stop. A stop at St George Bay where you can swim, snorkel and sunbath is a must-do.
