Short CV:

Elena Konstantinidou is a qualified architect (National Technical University of Athens 1991) with a Masters in ‘Architecture – Design – Space - Culture” (NTUA, 2004). She also attended a series of post graduate courses on: “New uses in old buildings” (1992, NTUA, SADAS), “Urban regeneration - Local development - participatory planning” (1994, NTUA, European Social Fund), “Typology and Urban Space” (1994, Center for Continuing Education NTUA). She is an Assοciate Professor at the School of Architecture NTUA, in the Department of Architectural Design, Laboratory of Architectural Form and Orders (since 2000). She has also been a visiting professor in foreign universities (IUAV, UCY, UNIC etc). Her academic interest focuses on "Architectural design and architectural heritage”. She teaches courses on architectural heritage and contemporary interventions in historic environments (in undergraduate and postgraduate level) as well as architectural design.

She has reached 25 years of professional experience, her projects include residences and houses in traditional settlements, urban residential complexes, office buildings, hotels, hostels, tourism coastal areas, marinas, interior and furniture design, surveying and building restorations. She has published architectural work in association with participation and further distinctions within the frame of National and International architectural competitions.

Her research experience includes participations in a number of programs and projects on industrial heritage, conservation, re-utilization, integration of old towns, protection and promotion of Archaeological Sites, structural investigation of settlements, rescue and recovery capabilities, reconstruction of disaster-stricken areas, exploration of Potentials for Integration and Rehabilitation of new uses in old buildings etc.

Her publications focus mainly on the teaching of architectural design, the methodology for the recognition of cultural identity of traditional settlements, the re-interpretation of historical environment and the issues of new architecture in historic contexts. She has organized and attended many seminars, workshops and conferences.
