Prof. Izabela Mironowicz

Short CV:
Izabela Mironowicz is an urban designer and planner. Her research focuses on dynamics of the cities and their evolution. She is also an expert in planning education. Her professional experience includes also work for cities and regions and cooperation with European institutions. With more than 100 publications Izabela is a prominent theorist in urban planning and urban studies as well as in planning education.
She was Secretary General of the Association of European Schools of Planning from 2011 to 2015. She worked towards closer cooperation between European planning organisations: AESOP, ECTP-CEU, IFHP, ISOCARP. She initiated new projects strengthening this cooperation, including Lecture Series and European Urban Summer School.
Izabela sits in the Editorial Boards of „International Planning Studies” and „Urban Design International”. In 2018 she writes Column for „disP: The Planning Review”.
Her interest in urban transformation during the „Changing Cities IV” conference will focus on the question how to evaluate, re-use and adapt the post-war urban heritage for the future of the cities and how this could possibly contribute to more sustainable development of European cities.
Currently at the RWTH Aachen University Izabela is working on new MSc Programme „Transforming City Region” which will be open in October 2019 for international students.
